For a long time now, Diane Hayes Gil has
been following the life of Haugesund the virtual way, through this site
and its pictures. Now, in two hectic days, she has experienced it in reality
. Diane and her husband Joe visited our town Monday and Tuesday, after
a trip with the coastal steamer Hurtigruten from Kirkenes to Bergen.
Earlier this year she asked us for help.
She knew the name of her great grandparents - and wanted to know if she
had some relatives here. We found them - The Backmann's. Now they have
been able to learn to know their new found norwegian american family members,
let them feel the fresh air of our region - and enjoy its sceneries.
Tuesday evening they returned to Bergen
to be able to reach the flight via Oslo back to their home in northern
California.
