Den var et forferdelig syn, Sleipner.
Havariet, det mislykkede hevingsforsøket, og havets krefter hadde
satt stygge spor i den engang så flotte båten. Nå er
det meste av den hentet opp, etter at den ble slept inn på grunt
vann ved Lyngholmen i går ettermiddag. Dagens bilder viser båten
i all dens gru. Men bildene viser samtidig at betydelige mengder vrakdeler
må ligge igjen på bunnen, for her er det mer enn baugen som
ikke er blitt med opp! Under styrehuset mangler en betydelig seksjon av
båten, og ikke bare baugen som ble hentet opp i mars!

The Sleipner wreck was salvaged Monday.
Even if we had been prepared to meet a damaged wreck, it was shocking to
see it. Todays pictures will give you some impressions of its condition.
But a large part, just beneath the cocpit, including the right fuselage,
has been crushed during the resque operations, and is left at 100 m by
Bloksen. This seems to be due to the damages because of the straps cutting
themselves into the fuselage during the March resque attemt.
Compare this picture with the
wreck. The bow part was resqued in March.
That means that a lot of it is left on the bottom. Compare
with this picture from
the March attempt. You can see the straps cutting themselves into the aluminium
contructions.
