| Skudefestivalen er over. Vi
sitter ikke med facts om deltakerantall, publikumstilstrømning og
graden av vellykkethet for dette årets arrangement. Men - det var
i hvert fall trivelig å avlegge denne sør-karmøyske
hovedstad en liten visitt i dag. Der var masser av folk i gatene - og markedet
med boder, underholdning, auksjon og demonstrasjoner var godt besøkt.
Men - det er nå liksom båtene som skal skape miljøet
for denne festivalen - og dem var det mange av. Forhåndsomtalen antydet
500 påmeldte båter - både av tre, plast, stål,
gummi og aluminium. Her er det plass for alle!

This years Skudeneshavn festival has come
to an end. We know little number of visitors, participants, or if those
repsonisible are satisfied. But - it was nice to visit this "capitol" of
southern Karmøy today at mid day. Lots of people in the streets,
market place, entertainment, sunday street service and exhibitions - all
with lots of visitors. Even the main attraction, the boat exhibition, was
numerous, they say app. 500 boats. Most of them were wooden - but also
fiberglas, steel, aluminium, plastic and rubber were represented. Here
everybody with small boats seem to be welcome.
I shot some new pictures from the old Skudeneshavn.
This is a very well kept and traditional old part of the town - well
worth a visit, as one of the main attractions of our region.
For those of you not familiar with Skudeneshavn:
It is situated all south on Karmøy island.
Todays program started
with an outdoor sunday service.
Afterwards we were
able to see the exhibition of wooden boats
as well as other
kinds of boats,
or the street market,
before strolling
around the old town, as here to the Korneliusholmen
were we were able
to see this "mixed" view as passing the bridge,
Or in the Søragadå,
or other parts of
"the white town".
